gold coast gold Kinnon coast T glamorous, glitzy, and great for events. story By Johanna Mc he Gold Coast is all that its name suggests, and is a gold mine for the business events industry. Whether you’re after five-star accommodation, quality conferencing venues or great team- building activities, the Gold Coast has it all. Known for its white sandy strip and sunshine, the Gold Coast provides the perfect backdrop for inviting incentives with a trip to this destination an ideal staff reward. And, if you are organising a large-scale international or domestic conference, this city has all the infrastructure to ensure that your event goes off with a bang. The Gold Coast Convention & Exhibition Centre is conveniently located in the heart of the Gold Coast and can cater for up to 6000 delegates. The $167 million centre offers event planners a range of spaces, and as Australia’s largest regional convention centre it is able to host corporate and association events and exhibitions. The purpose-built GCCEC is also the only convention centre in Australia to offer wireless technology where delegates can access the internet throughout the venue. Aside from a well-equipped convention centre, the Gold Coast is also home to a range of quality accommodation. The Mantra Legends Hotel is located 100 metres from the beach in the heart of Surfers Paradise and is one of the attractive accommodation options available for delegates. The hotel offers 403 newly refurbished guest rooms which include hotel rooms, studio rooms and deluxe spa suites. As well as accommodation, the property is well-suited to meetings, offering conference rooms for up to 350 delegates. The hotel’s conference centre features wireless internet and a pre-function area and private terraces. The Mantra Legends Hotel also has refurbishment plans in the works for the first level of the conference centre for 2009. So to add some glamour to your next event, consider the Gold Coast. The card will be presented as an incentive for large-scale events and will be distributed by Conrad Jupiters and the GCCEC. According to Broadbeach Alliance CEO Jan McCormick, the card will generate business for Broadbeach, and most importantly keep the business in the area. “Essentially what we want to do is showcase Broadbeach and all the wonderful restaurants and businesses to visiting delegates,” she said. Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre GM, Adrienne Readings agrees that this card will entice additional events to Broadbeach. “The card will encourage delegates and guests to visit the Broadbeach precinct and utilise the dining and entertainment choices available with specialised value-added opportunities,” she said.
