Mice Net : October 2008
melbourne dancing starwoods WitH tHe soMe of Melbourne’s top PCos slipped on their dancing shoes for a night with a difference recently. S tarwood Hotels & Resorts put on a night to remember in Melbourne recently, entertaining 160 of Melbourne’s professional conference organisers and event planners. But TOP: And the winner is... Kira Fitzpatrick from Liberty Events. ABOVE: Suzanne Hart of Suzanne Hart Events couldn't match her first place at the 2007 event. 100 mice.net as one person reported, it was more the PCOs and event planners entertaining themselves than anything else. Eight very brave and talented business event specialists took the Flemington – The Event Centre dance floor by storm for the Dancing With The Starwoods dance-off, each with a professional dance partner in tow. They then proceeded to strut their stuff on behalf of the Starwood brands with the first prize being two return flights with Emirates to New York on their A380, two nights accommodation at St Regis New York, and two nights accommodation at The Westin Times Square with two tickets to a Broadway show. The grand prize was won by Kira Fitzpatrick from Liberty Events who danced for Westin. Dancing for Sheraton was Angela Rountos from The Captain’s Choice Tours; W Hotels – Paul Downey from Destination Event Management; Aloft – Mardi Peters from Key Conference Solutions; St Regis – Bec Villiers from Impact Organisation; Le Meridien – Suzanne Hart from SHE; Four Points – Tim Branagan from 212°F; and Luxury Collection – Leonie Dalton from Carlson Wagonlit. Sponsors of this fine event were Emirates, Solution Red, Flemington - The Event Centre, In-A-Spin Dance Design and Big Stick Adventures (photography). A big congratulations to Rebecca Wiles, manager of global sales of Starwood Hotels and Resorts (the brainchild of Dancing with the Starwoods) who was the MC and wore as many (organisational) hats as there are Starwood brands!
