case study Global Behavioural Economics Forum T NAME: Global Behavioural Economics Forum TYPE: Forum/conference VENuE: Meritus Marina Mandarin Singapore CLIENT: The Gallup Organisation NO. ON ORGANISING TEAM: five PAX: 230 BuDGET: WHAT YOU DID: The main ballroom was set classroom- style with one VIP holding room cum media interview room with 14 sets of settees required and one technology showcase room for online broadcasting. We catered for two coffee breaks, western set lunch and post-event cocktail reception. CHALLENGES: As there was a wedding dinner the night before the event, set-up only commenced at 12am on the morning of the event and did not end till 4am. And due to the profile of guests attending the forum (CEOs of companies, Members of Parliament, Secretaries from various Ministries of Singapore, Minister of Defence, CEO of Gallup, a Nobel Laureate), the organisers were rightfully anxious, had high expectations and various requests pertaining to the running of the event. OVERCOMING CHALLENGES: The main challenge was the overnight set-up and handling the organisers’ requests efficiently, which the team managed to cruise through with great teamwork and service dedication. CLIENT’S COMMENT: “A brief note to highlight to you that the team from the Marina Mandarin who served us, from preparation to the event proper, was outstanding in many ways, and left a positive emotional experience that will be remembered. You would be pleased to note that what the hotel lacked in the rational facilities was all well compensated by the hard work and dedication of your people.” All set to go at Meritus Marina Mandarin Singapore. 104 mice.net Raymond Tay, associate partner, The Gallup Organization.
