the meetings & events industry AwArds 2008 anna taRtakovskaia NatiONal eveNts maNager In October and November MEA held its award briefing sessions across Australia. These sessions generated a lot of interest and a lot of questions regarding the new awards program. This is a very exciting time for MEA as we believe that through these changes we are better able to serve the needs of our members and encourage all sectors of our growing industry to get involved in the awards program. If you were unable to attend the awards briefing in your state and would like to receive more information or clarification about certain aspects of the application process, please contact the MEA national office on (02) 9929 5400. Please note that following member feedback we implemented further changes to the 2008 awards categories. Information on award categories and recent changes can be found on the awards section of the MEA website. If you are planning to apply for any of the individual awards (excluding y MEA) please don’t forget to check that your accreditation (AMM/AIMM) or recognition (AFMEA) is current. Don’t forget to check the renewal date well ahead of the closing date for the award submission to avoid disappointment. Submission Closing Date – 4pm Wednesday, January 28, 2009 Qualifying Period – July 1, 2007 – June 30, 2008 NATIONAL PRESENTATIONS The MEA National Awards Night will be held during the MEA 22nd National Conference on April 7, 2009 at the Adelaide Convention Centre. Please also note that all award entrants receive the early bird rate to attend the national conference. Award applications are open.
