Tour Hosts Corporate and Special Events Team was invited by the Dodsal Group to co-ordinate and manage the Dodsal Welcome Dinner at the Westin Ballroom. The Dodsal Group is a Dubai-based diversified multinational group that operates in areas of engineering, construction, infrastructure development and management, exploration of hydrocarbons and mining of minerals and metals for the energy sector. The event program was designed to ensure the event flowed smoothly and was planned for five hours, starting at 7pm. The dinner was organised with the underlying objective that this event should stand apart from previous functions ensuring that the 430 local and international guests who attended had a memorable experience. The Dodsal brief for the event included a showcase of indigenous Australian culture, as well as including Indian catering elements in light of the invited audience. The dinner was also an opportunity for guests to network amongst a variety of cultural and national backgrounds. The dinner was also an opportunity for Dodsal to communicate its company message and brand values to the distinguished guests. The Tour Hosts team applied the company’s logo to menus and projected it onto the wall behind the stage as a subtle approach to get the company message across to guests. It was important for the client that Australian culture was properly acknowledged and the ‘Welcome to Country’ program was organised to officially welcome the guests to the area on behalf of the traditional owners of the land. This theme continued into the ballroom which featured elements such as ‘Human Lizards’ as roving entertainment and an ‘Aussie’ bush band. Tables were dressed with ochre coloured cloths and native Australian seedlings were used as centrepieces. The seedlings were donated to a local school and planted on Dodsal’s behalf
