T the magic of macau 2008 NAME: Combined Insurance NZ Incentive CLIENT: Combined Insurance New Zealand BY: Off Site Connections Event Management Macau (OSC) NO. ON ORGANISING TEAM: Two from OSC and the client’s team of five on-site PAX: 60 (30 couples) BUDGET: WHAT YOU DID: The Off-Site Connections Event Management (OSC) Macau team designed two group evening events, assisted with the ground arrangements including airport transfers, full day group activity, personalised room drop gifts and ensured guests enjoyed their time at leisure. During the day the group enjoyed a full day group experience travelling to Shenzhen, China – a shopper’s paradise! The remainder of the time guests enjoyed time to explore and immerse themselves in the fusion of Portuguese and Chinese heritage. Experiences included tours of the cultural and historical sites of Macau. Tours of the temples, churches, museums, boat trips to local islands, cooking classes and local shopping were just some of the options. The OSC evening events included a fancy dress wild west theme and Magical Macau awards night. The wild west theme was complimented by guests dressed head to toe in their best “cowboy” gear. Drinks were 168 mice.net served from the custom built NZI Saloon bar complete with ropes, hay, backdrop and swinging door! Guests took their seats on bales of hay while enjoying authentic ranch recipes. It was then time to make their way to the horseshoe toss area before the team line dancing competitions, which lead to dancing the night away to the DJ. In contrast an elegant black-tie evening recognised the top achievers. The night reflected modern Macau with stylish décor, candlelight, crystals and chic branded crystal centerpieces adorning tables. Guests were amazed at the stunning performances by acrobats on raised mirror plinths and enjoyed the tunes of a local dance band. There were two nights at leisure to experience the local restaurants including Portuguese and Chinese flavours. Without doubt all guests enjoyed the magic of Macau and a four-day celebration of their success. SPECIAL TOUCHES: Personalised room gifts were designed including Chinese silk photo frames and branded fans. Both evenings represented outstanding décor detail – and the wild west theme was embraced with all guests bringing costumes from home adding a very colourful and impressive element to the evening. CHALLENGES: OSC Macau had to ensure all guests were comfortable and felt at home in the 3000-room hotel! Careful planning, signage and daily communication delivered to rooms assisted with ensuring no one was lost or late for events. CLIENT’S COMMENT: “….from our first initial contact with OSC we just knew our event was in great hands. During our week-long stay in Macau, OSC were heavily involved with our activities and it is because of them that all our events for the entire week ran smoothly and without any hiccups. We would certainly use the OSC team again.” - P Kelly, vice president / general manager, Combined Insurance Company of NZ. F - E B R U 1 A 2 R Y 2 0 Y 0 D 9 – S M I C E A . C N E S E T U N O . 0 5 6
