Mice Net : June 2009
AIME 2009 BrEAks rEcOrds Wow, what a year for AIME in 2009. In defiance of the current economic climate AIME 09, the 17th Asia-Pacific Incentives & Meetings Expo, was a record breaker with both visitor and exhibitor numbers up on last year. Against the backdrop of some very interesting economic times organisers had incredible feedback about the quality of the buyers and visitors and new feature areas, as well as the overall look and general organisation of the event, which was reported to be of the highest calibre. Exhibitor numbers increased by 5.3 per cent on AIME 2008 to 867 and audited trade visitor numbers grew by 12 per cent to 3114 visitors (Figures CAB audited). Add to that a mighty 467 hosted buyers and we begin to understand the level of business being undertaken, not only at the event, but post event as a result of new contacts being made and old acquaintances re-established. “When you consider the current economic situation and the devastating local bushfires these results are really incredible and reflect the resilience of the meetings and incentive industry,” said Paul Kennedy MBE, group exhibition director, Meetings & Incentive Events, RTE.
