cai rns & gr eat bar r i e r r e e f thinking left of Centre There’s plenty of room to move in Cairns’ great outdoors. S o you’re conferencing in Cairns and keen to take your delegates outside for a welcome reception or off-site dinner under the stars? Indeed, it’s all possible and all just a short stroll from the CBD. Sister Cities and Cairns Esplanade Enough space for a large marquee or an intimate dinner, the Sister Cities Area and the Esplanade offer large open grass areas to play with. Maintained by the Cairns Regional Council, this space is easily accessed for events and is regularly used by creative event companies such as Off-Site Connections. The Sister Cities Area encapsulates the south end of the Esplanade and can easily accommodate more than 600 delegates for a sit-down dinner. The Esplanade area can cater for a greater number and as a whole, this space can be transformed into a spectacular venue for events. The Fogerty Sound Shell is included in this area and is often used for community events. This venue includes a covered stage and grass area that would be ideal for an awards night presentation or gala event. The sparkling lagoon area is also ideal for corporate events and can easily host groups of more than 500. These locations are also ideal for team-building activities or corporate family days, with enough room to bring in a jumping castle!
