YOUR FIRST JOB: cooking and selling donuts – i was 13 years old. YOUR FIRST PAYPACKET: $1.12 per hour (big money back then) YOUR FIRST BREAK: My first sales role was a sales co-ordinator for SPHc Hotel Group (no longer exists) at the Boulevard Hotel. it was given to me by my wonderful mentor Glennis clifton, who is still a source of support and inspiration 21 years later. DESCRIBE YOUR CURRENT ROLE: i am the director of sales for encore. encore is a destination management company as well as a conference and incentive specialist. My role involves driving all aspects of sales and marketing, including business development and account management. THE BEST PART OF YOUR JOB: our team of people! THE WORST: telesales – a necessary evil. WHO HAS INSPIRED YOU: Many wonderful mentors along the way but i think my two-year-old son William has been my greatest inspiration. You become a more patient person and see things in a simpler way (i know it sounds a little clichéd but it is the truth). YOUR BEST QUALITY: i like people. He has more than 30 years of experience in senior marketing roles and has developed incentive programs with leading australian travel houses. His expertise in sports marketing saw him working as director of marketing for the aTP Tennis Masters Cup in Sydney in 2001 and similarly with the Speedway Grand Prix in 2002. She joins Hayman from royal Caribbean Cruise lines where she held the positions of conference & incentive key account manager and acting conference & incentive sales manager for the UK and ireland, based in london. ADRIAN Zana Chisholm has been appointed business development manager of the Sofitel Brisbane Central. Ms Chisholm joins the Brisbane team with more than eight years of experience in the hospitality industry. Most recently she held the position of national sales manager of an independent hotel in Brisbane, overseeing the sales and marketing teams. Prior to this she was based in Perth as an account manager for one of australia’s largest privately owned hotel operators. He has more than 14 years in the hospitality industry, and extensive international experience with an impressive portfolio of five-star hotels in the UK – primarily in positions which focus on meeting and events. GUTTERIDGE General ManaGer MeTro HoTel on CanninG adrian Gutteridge has been appointed general manager of the newly refurbished Metro Hotel on Canning in Perth. Mr Gutteridge has 23 years’ experience in the hospitality industry working in both resorts and city hotels throughout australia. in his new role, he is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day management of the property as well as identifying and capitalising on opportunities to grow the hotel’s leisure and corporate business. MARK BRADFORD General ManaGer Mandarin orienTal Manila Mark Bradford has been appointed general manager of the Mandarin oriental, Manila, succeeding Helmut Gaisberger from September 1, and replacing Greg liddell who withdrew from the position citing personal reasons.
