NICK CLARKE DIRECTOR OF SALES & MARKETING SOFITEL GOLD COAST BROADBEACH What did you want to be when you grew up: A footballer for Chelsea FC. Your first job: Creating gourmet French pastries. Well I thought they were gourmet but the head French pastry chef may have thought otherwise. Your first pay packet: 24 pounds for my weekend job at the ripe age of 17. Your first break: Taking a call from a director of sales in London who was looking for a MICE business development manager. Describe your current role: I manage the overall sales and marketing activities for the property, growing and enhancing the leisure and MICE sectors of our business and manage the sales and marketing team. The best part of your job: The Gold Coast lifestyle-365 days of sunshine, world-class beaches, magic hinterland and a holiday vibe synonymous with Queensland living. The worst: My email inbox -- it has become increasingly popular since my recent appointment. Who has inspired you: Richard Branson -- anything is possible in his eyes. Your best quality: I believe everybody should be given a chance to impress and to demonstrate their abilities first hand. Your worst quality: I have very limited patience for time wasters, and I'm also starting to dislike my email inbox. Where do you want to be in 10 years' time: Providing my lotto numbers prove to be eventual winners I will be relaxing on a luxury yacht in the Maldives with my family, no email or mobile phone access for miles... people KADIFA RIDGWAY SALES MANAGER MIRVAC Kadifa Ridgway has joined Mirvac Hotels & Resorts as sales manager, conference & incentives for NSW.
