Mice Net : December 2009
ANNE-MARIE COULTON DIRECTOR BUSINESS EVENTS BUSINESS EVENTS CAIRNS & GREAT BARRIER REEF What did you want to be when you grew up: A go-go dancer. Your first job: 11 years old - washing hair, sweeping up and general dog's body at the local hairdresser. Your first pay packet: $2 for nine hours. Your first break: When I was 12 Dad suggested I buy some cattle with the money I saved up taking people on horse trail rides. I bought 30 hereford steers and sold them 12 months later for a thumping great profit. The entrepreneurial bug had bitten. Describe your current role: Marketing the magnificent Cairns and Great Barrier Reef region to the business event sector globally. The best part of your job: Promoting one of the most highly desirable destinations on earth -- the Great Barrier Reef, ancient rainforests and outback. The operators are motivated and professional and with excellent product offerings. Does it get any better? The worst: What's not to like? Who has inspired you: My late father, the most positive and motivated visionary I have ever met. His relentless drive, no matter what the adversity, was infectious to all. Your best quality: I know I am living the dream. Your worst quality: Sometimes I forget I am living the dream. Your best achievement: Making the mice net " Here I am now" column. Where do you want to be in 10 years' time: Hopefully still making a meaningful contribution to the industry. people HEREIAMNOW!
