young gun “ The things I enjoy most about my role here at BESydney is that it is a fast-paced working environment,I am always working on a variety of projects and every day is challenging. nose to the grIndSTonE While I was at university, I worked part-time for Rydges Hotels and also completed some volunteer work which included research projects for local councils, restaurants as well as volunteering at a visitor information centre and really enjoyed helping and having a taste of some real work! This all gave me great experience and a good introduction to tourism and hospitality as well as market research. Through work experience at the Blue Mountains Information Centre I landed a role as the marketing co-ordinator for Blue Mountains Tourism. I have always been one for a fast-paced environment and keeping busy and this job certainly kept me on my toes, but my real passion was in marketing research. I started to look for research roles and I nearly fell off my chair when I saw the advertisement for a research co-ordinator for BESydney. It sounded like my dream job! I was accepted for the role and I have loved every minute of it! My role primarily involves compiling reports, competitor analysis and managing surveys for BESydney activities. I also research international events held in Sydney and communicate that information to international bodies. I have found this position to be a wonderful starting point for my career in this dynamic and growing industry. The two high points of my career have been with BESydney. The first was securing the highest number of meetings ever recorded A 42 mice.net fter finishing high school, I chose to complete a bachelor of business and tourism management with a sub major in marketing. I also completed a diploma in marketing research. ” Working hard has paid off for kate who now has her dream job. for Sydney in 2007 in the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA) Rankings which totalled 65 meetings. The second was my involvement with moving Sydney into 15th place internationally for the Union of International Associations (UIA), for the number of meetings held in 2007. Both of these required me to research and submit each international meeting that had been held in Sydney, which met the UIA and ICCA criteria. The things I enjoy most about my role here at BESydney is that it is a fast-paced working environment, I am always working on a variety of projects and every day is challenging. I work with a highly capable and pleasant bunch of people who really do make each working day enjoyable. When I’m not working, I like to dine out and spend time with my friends and family. I also enjoy cooking, shopping, going to the beach or just relaxing with a good movie. I am also enjoying planning one of the biggest events of my life, my wedding!
